
Welcome to Girls on the Run & Girls On Track of Berrien County - life-changing, non-profit prevention programs for young girls. The Girls On The Run (GOTR) curriculum is for girls in 3rd - 5th grades, Girls On Track (GOT) is taught to girls in 6th - 8th grades.
Our mission is "to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living." Girls on the Run combines training for a 5K (3.1 miles) running event with healthy living education. Our programs provide the opportunity for:
all of which are accomplished through an active collaboration with the girls, their parents, schools, volunteers, staff, and the community.
Girls on the Run of Berrien County is an Affiliate Council of Girls on the Run International, which has a network of over 150 locations across the United States and Canada.
We are currently accepting site applications from schools and other youth-based organizations interested in becoming a GOTR or GOT site. The site application deadline for 2011 is November 8, 2010. Please click on the Location/Become a Site tab above for more information.
Is your goal this year to run, bike, or swim your way to fitness? Then do it while raising money for a worthy cause. Join SoleMates and make a difference for your local GOTR council. “SoleMates are male and female athletes who pursue individual fitness goals while raising money for GOTR. You can walk, run, swim, or bike in ANY length event and raise funds for our organization” states Peggy Schaffer, GOTR Council Director. “We are recruiting area athletes who are training for anything from a 5K to an Ironman Triathlon."
