Cass County kids set to get backpacks filled with school supplies from United Way of Southwest Michigan

United Way of Southwest Michigan is proud to partner with area businesses and organizations to present School Supply Spectacular in Cass County again this August. This annual event provides free backpacks with age-appropriate school supplies to Cass County students in pre-kindergarten to 12th grade.

Families must arrive only during their assigned time slot at the pick-up location they selected during registration. Registrants will present their tickets for admittance and to receive their backpacks. Children must be present in order to receive a backpack and must be accompanied by an adult.

This event is for students residing in or attending schools in Cass County only. This event is intended to serve those families in Cass County who are experiencing financial hardship and are not able to afford school supplies and backpacks for their children.

Distribution will take place:

Thursday, August 3 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Marcellus High School

303 W. ARBOR ST. E, MARCELLUS

Saturday, August 5 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Brookside Learning Center

61662 DAILEY RD., CASSOPOLIS

While registration is closed, for those still seeking backpacks, limited quantities may be available at the close of the scheduled distribution events. If you still need school supplies, you can see if any are remaining at Marcellus High School on Thursday, August 3 from 11:45 a.m. to 12 p.m., or at Brookside Learning Center on Saturday, August 5 from 12:45-1 p.m.

After receiving their backpacks, kids will look to see if there is a golden ticket inside. Tenof the backpacks will contain a golden ticket, and those lucky children will get additional back-to-school goodies.

Back this year: local agencies will be on hand to share relevant resources!

“United Way’s annual School Supply Spectacular has long been one of our best-known and best-loved events in the community. It’s an amazing opportunity for all of us to help get Cass County kids ready for school so they are prepared to learn and succeed in the year ahead,” said Debbie Ramirez, Volunteer Engagement Director at United Way of Southwest Michigan.
