The Joseph N. and Rosemary E. Low Foundation Donates $50,000 Toward the 2024 Campaign to United Way of Southwest Michigan
The Joseph N. and Rosemary E. Low Foundation has once again demonstrated its steadfast commitment to the community with a generous $50,000 donation to United Way of Southwest Michigan. This annual gift, made in memory of Wilma V. Low, will directly benefit the organization’s 2024 campaign, helping to drive meaningful impact across the region.
"The Joseph N. and Rosemary E. Low Foundation’s continued support is a powerful testament to the difference we can make together," said Sharon Polfus, Director of Major Gifts at United Way of Southwest Michigan. “This returning annual gift not only honors the Low family’s legacy but also strengthens our ability to respond to the evolving needs of our community. Their generosity fuels our efforts to create lasting change, ensuring every dollar counts toward improving lives in Southwest Michigan."
Polfus added, "With this contribution to our 2024 campaign, we’re reminded of the vital role recurring gifts play in building a stable foundation for our work. This partnership enables us to plan for sustainable solutions, knowing we have champions like the Low Foundation by our side."
The donation was facilitated by Dr. John N. Low, son of Joseph and Wilma Low and stepson and nephew of Rosemary. Dr. Low, an Associate Professor in Comparative Studies at The Ohio State University, maintains close ties to southwest Michigan.
The gift was made in memory of Wilma V. Low, lifelong resident of Niles. According to Dr. Low, “the mission of the Foundation is to support individuals and organizations lifting up those in need in our community.”
Dr. Low serves as the director of the Newark Earthworks Center at The Ohio State University. He holds a Ph.D. in American Culture, a Juris Doctorate, and a graduate certificate in Museum Studies from the University of Michigan, as well as degrees from Michigan State University, the University of Minnesota, and the University of Chicago.
